Whether we like it or not, it is common for us all to get sucked in the hypnotic way of life. We accept, without question, the drudgery of a 9-5 routine which brings us a mediocre life. Add Instant Gratification to the mix (home with 4 bedrooms x 2 bathrooms, two cars, massive mortgage and you know where I am going with this) and we are setting ourselves up for a stressful, broke and unrewarding life

I too, was broke, unhappy and forever worrying about money. How I dislike this empty, anxious feeling that kept me in an attitude of scarcity. What could I do to help myself? I wanted this emptiness gone forever, as I’m sure you do too!

I joined Wealthy Affiliates, an online business opportunity. Yes, it takes guts, with all the naysayers that continually knock these opportunities without ever trying them. I feel sorry for these people. The only way to know is to actually “have a go” and form you own opinion.

From my research and experience, I now know Wealthy Affiliates is an authentic and trustworthy Company. This is half the battle won! There are the scammers out there who suggest we can be a millionaire overnight. No, it takes hard work.

Wealthy Affiliates offer a free start to try before you buy. This is proof of their integrity and I took advantage, joined for free and thoroughly reviewed what was on offer.

This enabled me to have a look at the platform and do the following:

  • Read the main feed for the strong supportive Community and notice how questions are answered or people are referred to a related training link to help them
  • Start the training to experience the walk-through video of each lesson, followed by the text. I love the video, because I could pause (to do the action) and restart at will. I am a visual learner. Are you?
  • Familiarise myself with the navigation around the site. This was a bonus for me! I often find myself frustrated when on a new site and can’t get to where I want to go. Grrrrr!
  • Ask my own questions in the 1-on-1 Live Help for 7 days.
  • And much more

Wealthy Affiliates is not a get-rich-quick platform, nor is it for people who expect results for doing very little. In Wealthy Affiliates, you have to stay focused, work hard, commit yourself and play “all in”. If you can honestly see yourself doing this, then this is a good fit for you. If not, read no further.

When I first started in ernest, I had so much to learn. Us baby boomers were not brought up with digital skills and this was to be my first challenge. I can remember, in the beginning, being so frustrated at every turn and it would take me a day to get a task done. Now I can do these things in five minutes! Woohoo!

There is a tidal wave of people taking to the online business model to escape the humdrum job and the bricks and mortarTIRED OF BEING BROKE business which were the only options we had. These old ways of life put our retirement out to age 65+ and now we are being asked to work until we are 70.

The economy, being the way it is, is causing many bricks and mortar businesses to close. They have given all they have got, often put mortgages on their homes in order to start or keep their businesses afloat and more. What heartache they face when they have to shut up shop. I feel for these people. There is a better way.

Often College Graduates with degrees are finding it hard to get placements.

My determined curiosity drove me to find out what all the fuss was truly about. I needed to find out for my own satisfaction. I dabbled with selling my artworks online and through Facebook and they both flopped. What I was learning here, was what not to do!! HA HA! I was under the delusion that if I put them up online flocks of people would buy. No, it doesn’t work that way.

I was not easily swayed from my decision to somehow work online and have a laptop business that I could take anywhere. This was going to happen for me and I would find a way.

I kept looking, looking, looking and finally found Wealthy Affiliates. The beautiful part about it was I didn’t have to re-invent the wheel. Meaning, try to learn “the how, when where and why” on my own. It was all there for me, where to start, the how to do it, when to do it and where to do it etc. Thrown in I have a like-minded strong supportive Community to help me through my challenges day in and day out.

It is time, Ladies and Gentlemen to treat yourselves to a chance to embrace and conquer a rewarding life. The one we all deserve!

I had the guts to take the plunge, prove the naysayers haven’t ever given it a go and therefore speak unqualified words, and I now know I am on my way to leaving the emptiness and scarcity behind me.

Do you have the guts, grit and fortitude to help yourself? Don’t let it suck you back in.

Cheers, Jill

  1. Aren’t we all, damn straight we are looking for an avenue to get out of broke city.

It does come down to what you have within, life just keeps on getting more and more expensive doesn’t it.

What better way to get out of the rut and take a chance, to get into Wealthy Affiliate and really build an online business from the ground up.

Retirement age is advancing, peoples life expectancy is not necessarily advancing at the same rate.

Do something about it and check into WA.

Great article, keep up the good work.

  2. Hi, Jill!
I absolutely love your post and especially because you gave the topic a personal touch. I relate to every single point.

I too tried to follow those “gurus” and went “All In.”

    Well, what I’ve got?

Paralysis by analysis and thousands of dollars lighter my wallet!

You are absolutely right: money requires tremendous dedication, guts and high level of accountability… to yourself. A lot of people cannot do it. Why? There are a lot of reasons for this.

Anyways, thank you for the article. Interesting, colorful, right to the point and with a sense of action!

  3. Hi Jill
What a great post. Completely relatable to most of us plodders. The trouble is we get used to having little money and lots of debt. We are to scared to dream. The bigger the dream the bigger the results.
Thank you Jill for your wonderful article.
